12/09/2009 -- "Though I've stayed with this particular venue each of the last two years, the room in 2008 was outstanding. The kitchen and larger roon accommodations provided an environment that when, not at the beach, dining or shopping, was a place we looked forward to coming back to everyday.
Decor, furniture and surroundings provided a pleasureable experience.

Little Piece of Heaven
12/09/2009 -- Gulf Place is wonderful for a quick getaway. I would highly recommend it for a couple's vacation. We went for three nights for our 20th anniversary. There are many things going on at this mixed-use property. We were right across from the beach with a partial view, which was fine, since we spent so much time ON the beach with our complimentary chairs and umbrella (Such a nice amenity!). There was a wonderful coffee shop (Miss Lucille's Gossip Emporium) on the property that was cute and comfortable. One night upon returning from dinner we caught a concert on the lawn behind our building, which was just such a nice surprise! There is a breakfast/lunch restaurant on property that occasionally opens for dinner, which all the locals seemed to know about so be ready to change your plans and eat there when this happens. We wish we had as it was a real hot spot and seemed to be very good. The pool is at the building next door, but that was OK with us. I'm not sure if that was the main activity if that would be very convenient. It was great to have a small kitchen to make coffee or have a quick breakfast. The artsy kiosks were quite charming and walking around the property and looking at the shops was really fun. My only complaint was that the garden tub was very inviting but when I decided to take a hot bath there was not enough hot water to even get above the jets. It got cold fast, so really, that defeats the purpose of the \Hot\" jacuzzi tub. Other than that I was completely impressed and would recommend it to anyone. This is also a less congested and kind of interesting area for exploring the other beaches of South Walton. We liked exploring the area without having to drive too far. And you're close to all the favorite restaurants of Destin like Pompano Joe's. Two thumbs up from two people who love the Destin area!"
